TotalEnergies On: A Third Selection of Start-Ups Working to Advance The Energy Transition

09/18/2023

Today, ten new companies joined the TotalEnergies On program, the accelerator for start-ups developing products and/or services in the fields of electricity and renewable energies. An overview of the solutions offered by ten start-ups harnessing innovation to advance the energy transition!

What do BeePlanet Factory (manufacture of second-life batteries from electric vehicle batteries) and Time2Plug (electric vehicle recharging solutions) have in common? Both are now well established companies in the electricity sector, and both benefited from the TotalEnergies On program. The program is a start-up accelerator launched by TotalEnergies in June 2022 to support the development of new businesses in the electricity and renewable energies sector.

The ten start-ups selected for this third promotion of the program are companies offering solutions and developing cutting-edge technologies for the entire electricity value chain: renewable electricity production, energy storage, decentralized energy management, trading, sales to end consumers, and electric mobility. Many of the solutions are digital and some are based on artificial intelligence.

An effective springboard for start-ups developing solutions in the electricity sector

For the start-ups that are accepted into the program, the opportunity is considerable: entrepreneurial support in collaboration with the prestigious HEC business school, special access to the teams, experts, infrastructure, and customers of TotalEnergies, a testing ground for their products and/or services within the Company’s various businesses and—last but not least—the chance for a place at STATION F, the largest start-up campus in the world.

The participants will get access to an ecosystem and synergies that will help their business grow. At the conclusion of the six-month program, there is the added bonus of recognition within the industry and a possible collaboration with TotalEnergies. Last December, the Demo Days event hosted at STATION F gave the start-ups from the first batch of the program the opportunity to present the progress of their experiments to investors, partners, and TotalEnergies employees. A chance to discuss opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and innovations to be integrated into the Company’s business lines. TotalEnergies also shone a spotlight on the selected entrepreneurs by dedicating its stand to them at the 2023 edition of the Viva Technology trade fair.

A growing success

"The great many candidates that applied for this third edition of the program—nearly 200 start-ups from all corners of the globe—goes to show the growing appeal of this program," said Thibault Flichy, Director of TotalEnergies On.

Since the program began, 29 start-ups have been selected. They are helping TotalEnergies toward its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. More broadly, they are contributing to the electrification of the European energy mix. "We are excited and enthusiastic to be taking this next step in the adventure with these ten promising start-ups. We will continue to push them to come up with solutions that complement each other and inject intelligence into renewable energies and electricity," concluded Thibault Flichy.
