FRANCIS to ANDREW 00’25
Thank you very much...
ANDREW SSENYONGA 00’32
It’s important to check the truck because we are aware that accidents are caused by three things:
the driver, the vehicle or the journey......
So we check the vehicle to ensure that it’s in very good mechanical condition to eliminate one of the possible causes of accidents, because our goal too is to have goal zero. Goal zero is no damage to people, no damage for partner and no damage for the environment. That is our goal.
FRANCIS 00’59
That’s when I wear my loading garments, after that then I wait for them to call me.
GODWIN NYEWANIRE 01’05
We carry fuel which is inflammable and when the drivers are running through populated areas, if you have an incident, it would be catastrophic! So safety is up there. We don’t compromise on safety for any economic gain.
FRANCIS 01’27
From Nairobi, it’s about 650 (km) and it takes us two days....We are to be careful for everything
because you are not supposed to hit anything.
GODWIN 01’37
We have about 275 trucks that operates cross border that is coming from Kenya or Tanzania and into Uganda, to bring the supply of fuel into the country....
.... All these vehicles have on board computers to make sure we can track the movement and also track the driver behavior. The computer gathers all the information on location, speed, and we share this information and analyse it...
.... Speed limit is 80 (km/h) but we have chosen to have our below that and this has drastical reduced the number of road accident we’ve had. Since 2012, it’s something that has really helped us improved on our safety.
FRANCIS 02’22
When we have gone for about 4 hours, we stop the vehicle and then we rest for about 15 mn. After stoping the truck, you fill where you have stopped and then you proceed...
...I’m checking whether the tire pressure is efficient or if it needs additional air.... and that’s the
sound of perfection. After finding no problem, I proceed...

As I know, Uganda is a landlocked country and they normally depend on things from outside because they don't have a harbour.. I feel I’m doing something very important because I’m
supporting it to grow.....
.... During the 40 years in which I’ve been driving, I have never caused an accident. When I came to Total then I learned more about how to protect myself and I’m ok, I’m better off.
