TotalEnergies in the United States

The United States is a land of opportunity for the deployment of TotalEnergies’ multi-energy strategy. Building on a nearly 70-year presence in this country - with oil production starting in 1957 - we have invested $11 billion since 2022 to accelerate our development in oil, natural gas, and electricity – the energy at the heart of the transition.

Renewables & electricity

The U.S. is home to one of our largest global renewable power generation portfolios with 10 GW of onshore, utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage, installed and under construction.
In Texas, we have 1.5 GW flexible power generation capacity to offset the intermittency of renewable power production.

Our affiliate Saft has five battery production plants and a distribution center in the country.

All our large-scale solar sites are equipped with battery storage.

Our power trading hub in Houston manages the electricity produced at our assets so it can be added to the grid at the right time and in the right quantity.

Gas & green gas

TotalEnergies is the leading exporter of U.S. LNG, shipping more than 10 million tons annually (Mpta). We expect our LNG export capacity to reach 15 Mpta by 2030.

We have investments in LNG facilities along the U.S. Gulf Coast and Baja California, including Cameron LNG, Rio Grande LNG, and Energia Costa Azul, as well as offtake agreements with major U.S. terminals such as Sabine Pass, Freeport and Corpus Christi.

Active in biogas through a joint venture with Vanguard Renewables, a leader in farm-based waste-to-renewable natural gas, we also produce biomethane for transportation in our joint venture with Clean Energy.
