On September 13, 2022, Patrick Pouyanné and Anders Bjarklev, President of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), signed an agreement to co-create the DTU-TotalEnergies Excellence Center for Clean Energy. This center of excellence will focus on developing reliable and cost-effective low-emission energy solutions, improving the intermittency of renewable energies and accelerating the decarbonization of industrial facilities.
TotalEnergies' ambition is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, together with society. To achieve this goal, complex technological leaps are required. That is why the Company partnered with DTU, whose expertise in renewable energies is recognized worldwide, and which TotalEnergies intends to rely on to meet the challenge.
Besides the research and pilots carried out at the new center in Risø, west of Copenhagen, the partnership will pave the way for synergies between DTU and TotalEnergies' activities, particularly in the offshore wind sector - DTU's leading area of expertise - and will enable the Company's employees to benefit from online master courses and customized training on electricity and low carbon energy.
TotalEnergies' open innovation approach
The joint research center reflects the open innovation approach taken by TotalEnergies, which is leveraging its talent, research infrastructure, pilot sites and an international network of research centers, start-ups and prominent academic partners. Our R&D, working hand in hand with our industrial hub and businesses, is at the forefront of the Company's transformation, dedicating 60% of its budget to the development of new energies and sustainability.
