One Young World Summit: 22 Young People Represent the Group in London

10/31/2019

From October 22 to 25, London was host to the tenth annual One Young World Summit, which brings together key business and political figures, thinkers and civil rights advocates, as well as close to 2,000 young delegates under the age of 30 from more than 190 countries. The summit aims to enable these future leaders to forge the relationships they need to build a more responsible world.

This year, 22 young Group employees from 17 different countries came together to represent Total at the summit. They were chosen for their desire to take action, question the status quo and become a force for change. The delegates’ responsibilities go beyond the three-day event.

At the end of the summit, they become official ambassadors and commit to the ongoing effort to change the world. Total’s participation in the summit has already given rise to an internal network (One Young Total) of young employees who are motivated to take concrete action to help the Group achieve its ambition of becoming the responsible energy major.

The Total delegation also included young people from civil society representing four nonprofit organizations supported by Total Foundation and six young entrepreneurs, winners of the Startupper Challenge.

Nicknamed the “Young Davos”, One Young World is the first annual world congress specifically for the young leaders of the future. Since 2010, it has been their opportunity to discuss major societal issues and present innovative solutions to governments, companies and international institutions.

The summit is built around a series of testimonies, plenary sessions and workshops dedicated to themes such as eliminating poverty, improving access to healthcare, promoting gender equality and developing a sustainable economy.
It is a unique opportunity for participants to share, inspire and contribute to more virtuous development of the world economy.

Manoëlle Lepoutre, Senior Vice President, Civil Society Engagement and sponsor of the delegation to this event, was in London to support the 22 young Group employees.
