Our Ethics Policy

TotalEnergies operates in many countries with diverse and complex economic and socio-cultural environments, which may expose the Company to security, safety, health, environmental and ethical risks. Consequently, the expectations of governments and civil society regarding our industry are particularly high. Our values, at the heart of our Code of Conduct, guide our actions and our relationships with our stakeholders.

Our ambition requires us, and all our employees, to conduct ourselves in an exemplary manner. Our Ethics Committee ensures compliance with this principle and can be contacted by all our external and internal stakeholders regarding any questions or reports relating to an ethical risk.

Our values, the foundation of our Code of Conduct

We comply with all national and international laws and standards applicable to our activities and keep abreast of developments in this area in every country where we operate. Beyond our commitment to the highest standards, five values unite us and guide our actions: Safety, Respect for Each Other, a Pioneer Spirit, the need to Stand Together and a Performance-Minded attitude.

Among these, two core values lie at the heart of our collective ethics and our Code of Conduct:

The TotalEnergies Code of Conduct

We firmly believe that our growth is closely linked to trust and mutual respect between the Company and its employees, as well as among employees themselves. Our Code of Conduct, a guiding document for all our employees worldwide, sets forth the Company’s values, standards, and principles for both collective and individual conduct. This Code of Conduct also details our commitments and expectations toward our external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, shareholders, etc.).

Ehics Committee and alert system

The Company's Ethics Committee

Since 2011, the TotalEnergies Ethics Committee has been responsible for ensuring compliance with and the day-to-day implementation of our Code of Conduct. It is also tasked with listening to, supporting, and advising employees and all of the Company’s stakeholders.

In addition, the Ethics Committee is responsible for:

  • receiving reports related to the Code of Conduct and ensuring they are addressed;
  • making recommendations to management teams on all ethical matters and drawing their attention to any risk that our activities may be called into question for ethical reasons;
  • reviewing all communications related to ethics within the Company;
  • participating, upon request, in the development of specific local practices or policies;
  • making recommendations to the Company’s training departments to incorporate a presentation of the Code of Conduct into training sessions.

The Speak Up reporting system

TotalEnergies fosters an environment of dialogue and trust that allows everyone to voice their concerns. Employees can speak with their line managers, a human resources representative, or their Compliance Officer or Ethics Officer.

In addition, our employees and external stakeholders may contact the Ethics Committee to seek advice, ask a question, or report incidents that may constitute a potential violation of the Company’s Code of Conduct via the dedicated email address: [email protected].

Our approach consists of applying our ethical values to our conduct in our daily activities and promoting them among our stakeholders. Within the Company, every employee must ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct and the principles of collective and individual conduct it sets forth, which are based on trust and respect. The same applies to our relationships with all our external stakeholders, whose interests and expectations must be respected.

We ensure that our ethical approach is understood, disseminated, and applied by all our stakeholders through independent ethical assessments and audits conducted across all our entities and subsidiaries worldwide. These assessments reinforce the consistency of our commitment to compliance and social responsibility while continuously improving our policies and procedures through the identification of best practices.
