TotalEnergies has designed a carbon intensity indicator that evaluates the average greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the energy products used by its customers. Discover how this indicator works in the infographic below.

The net carbon intensity is calculated by dividing by:
- The following numerator:
Scope 1 + 2 – Emissions related to the production and processing of energy products used by TotalEnergies customers.
+
Scope 3 – Emissions related to the use of energy products by the Company's customers.
-
Carbon sinks – Subtracting the volumes of CO2 sequestered through CCS and natural carbon sinks.
- By the following denominator:
Oil & Gas
+
Low-carbon molecules (biofuels, biogas and H2)
+
Electricity
=

Selling more energy with less emissions linked to its production and use reduces the carbon intensity indicator.
